An exceptional Ait Bou Ichaouen, 1960s or slightly older, with a sophisticated drawing and quite some age for this type of rug. The highly individual composition alternates between gestural abstract shapes and drawing-like meandering lines. The rather wild design, however, seems restrained by the soft color palette, so that the visual character of this rug oscillates between these two main features. The Ait Bou Ichaouen belong to the confederation of the Ait Seghrouchène du Sud, who live in the easternmost part of the High Atlas.
